Freeview

Now that Digital SwitchOver (DSO) is complete, digital television services are receivable in most parts of Essex without problems.

At present most homes can receive upto 50 TV channels, 24 radio station and 4 HD channels all through their television aerial.

Theres no subscription or contract to sign and with Personal Video Recorders (PVR's) content can be recorded just as it did with the Video Cassette Recorder. (VCR)

PVR's have evolved over the past few years with the ability now to record 2 channels at the same time whilst watching a third.

YouView

A new service thats been launched recently is 'YouView', this is an on demand service enabling one to scroll back over the past 7 days and watch programs held on BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4oD and Demand 5.

This service is incorporated into the Electronic Program Guide (EPG) of dedicated YouView PVR's making it very easy to operate and a great way to go back on programs missed.

A YouView PVR must be connected to a broadband internet connection, recommended speed to be at least 3Mb/s to enable the on demand services.

Freesat

Freesat is becoming more popular as consumers switch from paid TV services due to the increases in subscriptions year on year and the fact that freesat will work from a correctly installed sky dish.

Some areas that cant get freeview are also find the freesat platform a better proposition.

With freesat, you can receive over 150 free TV and radio channels and more being added in the future and no need for a retune. As channels become available the system updates itself.

Freesat Freetime

Freetime is similar to the 'YouView' on Freeview, its a service allowing consumers to go back in time and watch something they never recorded. The system does this by seamlessly integrating the on demand content with the electronic user guide EPG.

To receive on demand the freesat box must be connected to a internet connection with at least 2Mbps speed.

Humax make a USB adaptor for a wireless connection which is something we can supply for you should you need this.

There are more on demand services being offer all the time, just recently, Youtube was added to the freesat freetime box.

We can install or supply and install freeview and freesat equipment and make the necessary connections to the relevant services in your home.
